Qaswa began as a beautiful idea created by my mum,Ummi (QFatima). Her vision was to plant the love of the Qur'an into little hearts helping children connect with the Qur'an in a gentle, meaningful and imaginative way. Through Qur'an City, she created a world where children could begin to explore the beauty of the Qur'an, its stories, its guidance and its light.

Qaswa is named after the beloved camel of the Prophet Muhammad , and in this story, Qaswa becomes a gentle companion who helps children journey through faith, reflection and discovery.

The character of Safiya was inspired by my niece, who is my best friend and one of my greatest inspirations. Her warmth, strength and joy helped shape Safiya into a character that children can love, relate to and learn from.

I wanted to take my mum's story one step further by adapting it into a beautiful board book and creating a soft plush Qaswa toy that children could hold, cuddle and treasure.

This project has been a huge learning curve — from designing the book, developing the character, understanding toy safety requirements, and going through many different versions before finally reaching the finished Qaswa plush.
